Party for the Planet to Celebrate 15th Anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Earth Day
Disney can say with assurance that everyday’s a Party for the Planet at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as guests and cast members join together to celebrate the wonders of nature. But on April 22 (Earth Day), in recognition of the park’s 15th anniversary, there will be even more natural magic.
Here are some tips for all of you who are able to come:
- Get there by 8:30 a.m.! While the park and its attractions don’t open until 9 a.m., the turnstiles will open at 8:30 a.m., and I am proud to be joining Disney’s Animal Kingdom Vice President Josh D’Amaro who is hosting a special 15th anniversary ceremony that will take place in front of the Tree of Life at 8:40 a.m.
- Commemorative guide map: Be sure to pick one up when you enter the park. And while in the Main Entrance area, also pick up a keepsake postcard that serves as a Party for the Planet guide.
Meeting Merida at Disney World
Have you been looking forward to meeting Merida at Disney World ever since you first saw “Brave”? This courageous star’s play and greet area is full of fun for young and old alike. It is definitely worth a visit during your trip to Disney.
Meeting Merida at Disney World is a fabulous character meet and greet, but it can be tricky to find! Merida meets princes and princesses in Fairytale Gardens. Despite looking at the park maps we still had a hard time finding it! Here’s the gist of finding your way to meet Merida. While standing in the hub, facing the castle, take the path to the right of the Castle that leads to Fantasyland toward the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Just past the castle on the left, nestled among the Scottish Highlands is our brave princess, Merida.
Be sure to arrive early to meet Merida! By the time we discovered her the line was just around 40 minutes towards the end of the day. My advice is to head towards Fantasyland, meet Merida, then hit up the Mad Tea Party, grab a FastPass for Peter Pan’s Flight and enjoy Fantasyland.
Billy Dee Williams Set to Appear at Star Wars Weekends 2013 at Hollywood Studios
Today we’re pleased to announce that everyone’s favorite galactic smuggler, gambler and scoundrel will temporarily leave Cloud City and board the Millennium Falcon with a course set for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as actor Billy Dee Williams returns to Star Wars Weekends for the 2013 edition.
Williams, a fan favorite for his portrayal of Lando Calrissian in the film saga, will attend Weekend IV, June 7-9, 2013.
Lando, who is described on his official bio as having two weapons of choice — a blaster pistol and “a devastating smile” — betrayed the Rebellion when he made a deal with Darth Vader to capture his old friend, Han Solo. However, there was a storybook ending to the tale when he redeemed himself by later helping to free Captain Solo and assisting in the destruction of the second Death Star.
Long-Lost Disney Friends Coming to Disneyland Park for ‘Limited Time Magic’ April 8-14
Your votes have been counted, and it’s time for some of your favorite long-lost Disney friends to step into the spotlight at the Disneyland park for some Limited Time Magic.” From April 8-14, you will find them at Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree in Frontierland
You will have the chance to visit the following long-lost Disney friends during this “Limited Time Magic” event:
- “Esmeralda, From ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame,’ Will be at Disneyland Park for ‘Limited Time Magic’”
- “Pocahontas Will be at Disneyland Park for ‘Limited Time Magic’”
- From “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” – Esmeralda, Clopin and Frollo
Have a Little Extra Fun with Disney Characters on your Next Vacation!
I’m sure many of you have seen the picture going around Facebook that shows if you yell “Andy’s coming” in front of any of the Toy Story characters, they will fall down. Which is untrue. Disney put a stop to that as it was scaring small children. Not to mention for the cast members in the costume getting up and down is hard work. Having said that did you know there are phrases you can say to other Disney Characters at the Disney World and Disneyland theme parks to elicit a fun response?
For the princesses:
- Ask Ariel if you can be a mermaid
- Ask Aurora if she likes to take naps
- Ask Belle for a book recommendation
- Tell Belle that Beast is very big and scary
- Give Snow White an apple
- Complement any of the Princesses on their dresses
