Best Friends Pet Resort at Walt Disney World Now Accepting Reservations
Pet lovers … beginning today reservations are being accepted for a new luxury pet resort scheduled to open this summer at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you haven’t heard, the new Best Friends Pet Resort will be a “best-of-breed” facility with air-conditioned rooms,”VIP” suites and private outdoor yards for your pet.
And yes, bedtime stories with staff will be included as one of the special features at the 50,000-square-foot resort. You’ll also be able to choose from a list of la carte activities for your pet, including one-on-one play times and social playgroup with other dogs and ice cream time.
The resort’s exclusive dog park will have a fenced walking trail bordering natural wetlands around the park. Inside the trail, there will be different play areas, including a 3,300 square-foot area covered in artificial turf, a 4,500 square-foot area with shade trees, and a 1,300 square-foot “canines only” water park.

Two Myths about World Showcase at Epcot
Very few times and I left speechless and in awe at something I read on the interwebs. This is one of those times.
I just read this very detailed article about why Disney hasn’t added any countries to World Showcase at Epcot since Norway in 1988. Werner Weiss shares with us why that is, along with pictures and diagrams..Very Nice!

New Toy Story 3 Characters are now featured in Toy Story Mania
New characters from the Disney•Pixar film “Toy Story 3” have been added to the joyful, toy-full adventure of Toy Story Mania! at Disney California Adventure and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In addition to playing with new characters in Toy Story Mania!, there are opportunities in both parks for up-close fun with another all-new character from “Toy Story 3” – Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear. He’s the bossman at Sunnyside Daycare in the animated feature film.
Toy Story Mania! – the 4-D interactive ride-game attraction inspired by the Disney•Pixar “Toy Story” films – is extremely popular with Disney Parks guests on both coasts. This high-energy, immersive adventure puts players squarely in the action as their game play triggers surprises that deliver a fourth dimension of fun. Toy Story Mania! engages guests in a whole new way with delightful characters of “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2.”
Woody, Buzz, Mr. Potato Head and the gang are joined by a whole new set of characters from “Toy Story 3.” The new game greeting guests, “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts,” invites riders to shoot their virtual darts at all-new balloon targets in a primeval world filled with volcanoes and lava balloons, explained Sue Bryan, senior show producer, director, Walt Disney Imagineering.
Game players are welcomed by Rex (the nervous Tyrannosaurus rex) and his new friend Trixie (a blue Triceratops and one of the toy characters from the new film) cheering them on. The new game (it replaces “Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon Pop”) turns up the fun with more hidden surprises and the potential for volcanic levels of excitement. Other changes:
- The “Hamm & Eggs” game is now hosted by Hamm and Buttercup (a toy unicorn with heart-shaped nostrils).
- In the prize scene, Trixie, Buttercup, Dolly (a doll), Mr. Pricklepants (a lederhosen-clad hedgehog) and one other surprise – all from “Toy Story 3” – appear with Woody and Jessie.
“Our number-one goal in creating Toy Story Mania! was to come up with game-play challenges appropriate for all guests, from little kids to serious gamers,” Bryan said. “I love that we are keeping things fresh and new by adding these great new friends and fun to join some of the most popular characters of all time.”
Disney’s California Adventure – Carsland News & Info
Here is some interesting news coming out of Disney about the upcoming Carsland that is scheduled to be opened in 2012.
- Kathy Mangum, Executive Producer and Vice President, Walt Disney Imagineering, let us know that Cars Land architecture closely resembles that in the film on which it is based. In fact Imagineers have “laid out the street exactly the same” as in the movie, Kathy said.
- The Cozy Cones, Sally’s motel in the film, will be full-sized structures, and each will feature a unique snack shop offering tantalizing treats like “Chile Con Cone” and “Cone on the Cob.”
- Radiator Springs Racers — the land’s E-ticket attraction — will have 22 six-passenger cars on the ride system, which is reminiscent of Epcot’s Test Track. The attraction will utilize 3 million pounds of steel. Over the next 14 months the “mountain” landscape will be completed. The attraction will also offer different experiences for guests; in preparation for the day’s big race, in which all riders participate, some will receive new tires from Luigi, while others will get a fresh paint job from Ramone.
- Guests visiting Luigi’s Roamin’ Tires in Cars Land will get to walk through his office and garage in the attraction’s queue.
