Deltona man accused of sex assault on 12-year-old at Disney World

Article from the Orlando Sentinel:
A 29-year-old Volusia County man was behind bars Sunday after being arrested on sex offense charges involving a then 12-year-old girl at Disney World‘s Fort Wilderness.
Jean C. Garcia of Deltona was arrested at Disney World shortly before midnight Thursday, said Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Solomons.
Apparently the girl met the man she only knew as “Junior” at a pool at the resort.
The alleged assault happened at a laundry room facility.
The youth, who is now 13, told a family member about the incident in June after she believed that she might be pregnant.
Authorities arrested Garcia as he drove from his home to Disney for what he thought was going to be a meeting with the child, Solomons said, but the message for the meeting was arranged by law enforcement officers.
Orange County jail records show that Garcia has been charged with sexual battery and lewd or lascivious battery.
He is currently held with no bond allowed.
No other information about Garcia or this case was available Sunday night.

Santa Cruz Man To Raise House with Balloons

Article from KION
On Saturday, a Santa Cruz man will raise his house with thousands of balloons in an effort to raise money and awareness for children with terminal illnesses.
Michael Bethke was inspired by the Disney-Pixar movie “Up,” which had a similar concept. The main character raised his home with balloons. Bethke was also inspired by a dying young girl’s last wish to see the movie, “Up.” So, he wanted to share that same experience to help out kids with serious illnesses.
For the past two months, he’s been raising money for people to buy these balloons he plans to attach his home on Saturday. All the money will benefit the Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition.
The goal is to sell 17,000 balloons at $20 a piece to represent the 17,000 children with serious illnesses that the coalition helps.
With the help of the Sunrise Rotary Club, the project has raised more than $30,000. The house-raising event happens at 4 p.m. with a block party, including live entertainment and BBQ.
