Sneak Peek at Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
Opening this February at Walt Disney World is the all new game Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.
In this role-playing game, guests become Merlin’s apprentice sorcerers and embark on a quest to stop more than 20 Disney villains – including Hades and Cruella De Vil – from stealing one of the four shattered pieces of Merlin’s crystal ball. Armed with spells in the form of special cards, guests search for the magic symbols that lead them to villains’ hiding places in Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, and Main Street, U.S.A. Once there, apprentices use magic keys to reveal a villain’s hideout and use spell cards to stop them in their tracks.
According to the game’s developers, the cards really are the secret weapons of the game. There will be 70 different spell cards available and guests will receive five complimentary cards when they play. Each card features a different Disney character that offers a spell unique to him or her. Guests can use more than one card simultaneously, casting multiple spells at a villain at one time.
Some of the cards you may encounter include:
- Lumière’s Candle Blast – This card shows Belle’s favorite candlestick spurred on by his loyal ally, Cogsworth.
- Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride – This card shows Mr. Toad’s car careening through the underbrush.
- Prince Naveen’s Army of Frogs – This card shows Tiana’s prince enchanting his amphibian army to action.
- Rafiki’s Wisdom Stick – This card shows Simba’s counselor ready to imbue some knowledge on the enemy’s forehead.
- The Woozles’ Woozle Nightmare – This card shows a Woozle dreaming of his most delightful vision: A gang of other Woozles ready to bang some noggins.
We do have some additional details for guests who want to collect or trade these cards. The 70 cards are divided into nine different spell classes, such as Princess cards, Hero cards or Warrior cards. In addition, all cards are marked with one of three designations – a star symbol, which indicates a rare card; a moon symbol, which signifies an uncommon card; and a planet symbol, which indicates a common card.
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom will debut in late February and is included in the cost of theme park admission.

Pixie Hollow Launches New Fairy Experiences Available to All Players

Here’s how it works:

Disney Universe Steps Into The Wild With The New Jungle Book Costume Pack
Get ready to suit up and battle your way through the action-packed adventure of Disney Universe as your favorite characters from Disney’s The Jungle Book! Experience the frenzied, four-player, puzzle-platformer action as Mowgli, Shere Khan, King Louie, Bagheera or the Baby Elephant.
Disney Interactive Studios introduces new content to its latest video game, Disney Universe, with a downloadable “Jungle Book Costume Pack” that is available now. The “Jungle Book Costume Pack” is the latest installment of downloadable content available for Disney Universe on the Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network and the PlayStation®Network. Inspired by the stories about the feral child Mowgli from the book of the same name, players can suit up and battle friends in five brand new costumes including the independent man-cub, Mowgli; the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan; the rowdy King Louie; the nurturing black panther, Bagheera and the adorable Baby Elephant.
Individual costumes for the “Jungle Book Costume Pack” is available for download for 99 cents on PlayStation Network or for 80 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE. The complete set of costumes is also available for $2.99 on PlayStation Network or for 240 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE.
The all-new “Jungle Book Costume Pack” joins the wildly popular “Disney Villains Costume Pack” released in November that included notorious villains Cruella de Vil (101 Dalmatians), Hades (Hercules), Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), The Evil Queen (Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs) and Ursula (The Little Mermaid). The release of “The Muppets Costume Pack” is planned for March with costumes based on Kermit, Miss Piggy and their friends.
Disney Universe offers a four-person multiplayer action experience, with frenzied gameplay that appeals to players of all ages. The game features 45 classic and contemporary iconic character costumes inspired by well-known and legendary properties, such as the Disney•Pixar hits WALL•E and Monsters, Inc., Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Academy Award® winning classics The Lion King and Aladdin.

Stan Lee Narrates Two New Marvel Origin Storybook Apps
Disney Publishing Worldwide recently announced that two more storybook app titles based on the original Marvel Origins series will join “The Amazing Spider-Man: An Origin Story” app, which launched last month. The new titles, both narrated by comic book legend Stan Lee, include “Avengers Origins: Hulk” and “Avengers Origins: Assemble!” which will be available for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch in February 2012.
The “Avengers Origins: Hulk” action-packed app tells the story of how Dr. Bruce Banner becomes the Hulk and the pursuit of the U.S. armed forces against Banner/Hulk. Through thrilling tap-and-play animation and interactive games, readers are able to experience Banner’s transformation first-hand. The “Avengers Origins: Assemble!” app brings to life the team of Super Heroes we’ve all come to know and love with Iron Man, Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, and Captain America. In both apps, Lee lends his iconic voice in “Read to Me” mode, which is one of four reading modes that cater to a variety of reading levels. The two new interactive storybook apps narrated by comic book legend Stan Lee join “The Amazing Spider-Man: An Origin Story” app, which was rated one of the “10 Favorite Apps of 2011” by Entertainment Weekly.

Epic Mickey 2 is coming to a console near you
With the success of Epic Mickey last year it is no surprise that Disney is working on an all new Epic Mickey Game! While still focusing on the darker side of Disney there is expected to be a few welcomed changes.
From what I heard is Epic Mickey 2 will include co-op play, with one player controlling Mickey Mouse and the other controlling Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
While Mickey’s gameplay will remain similar to the first game, Oswald will allegedly be able to fly and possibly shoot electricity too.
If you remember the first game was exclusive to the Wii. Disney Interactive Studios has learned their lesson this time around and plans to bring it to both the Xbox and PS3!
Expect to see EM2 around fall of 2012
