Marvel Announces Marvel Digital Comics Shop
Marvel is really jumping into the digital age. Today they’ve announced a they’re starting their own digital comic shop: Marvel Digital Comics! It’s a one stop shop for all your digital Marvel needs. I know for someone like me, who is always on the go, this may be a great chance for me to stay up to date on some of the issues that I don’t have a chance to grab at the comic shop. App Review: “Avengers Origins: Hulk” by Disney Worldwide Publishing
The folks over at Disney Worldwide Publishing have been at it again, releasing the interactive book “Avengers Origins: Hulk” for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch! Just like Assemble!, which I reviewed recently, Hulk is available at the iTunes App Store, the book costs a very reasonable $1.99.
The book is narrated by Stan “The Man” Lee, so for all of you comic book enthusiasts, you will love to know that! However, there are different levels for the book, everything from “Read to me” mode, “Auto-turn the pages” mode — which will take away the interactions you can have with the book, and “Young Reader Mode” for those readers that are just starting out.
Hulk tells the story of how the Incredible Hulk came into being. For a person that doesn’t read many comic books anymore, the story told me about the young Bruce Banner, how his experiences as a kid would help him later on in life.
As the story progresses, we learn that Bruce Banner’s favorite subject was science, and that he became an Army Scientist studying Gamma Rays. I think I knew this when the Incredible Hulk was on TV when I was a kid, but that was several years ago, and I had forgotten all of that.
Then, when Banner was conducting a dangerous experiment, he saw something that would shake him to his core — someone driving right in the test zone!
Risking his own life, Bruce took action, and was able to push the boy to safety, but he wasn’t as lucky.
I’m willing to bet that most everyone knows the end result of the story, but if you don’t, why don’t you get the app and find out? The apps by Disney Worldwide Publishing are really well done, and even if you know the end, you’ll like the interactions that you have integrated into the story, such as this one, where you have to throw the car!
If you like comics, and the Incredible Hulk, and you have an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch, you’ll like this app!

Avengers Assemble On Three Collectible Covers of D23 Magazine’s All-new Summer Issue
Marvel’s The Avengers is so big, Disney twenty-three magazine needs not one, not two, but three eye-popping collectible covers to do it justice … and that’s what D23: The Official Disney Fan Club has planned for the summer issue, which is available nationwide on May 1.
Coinciding with the worldwide theatrical release of Marvel’s The Avengers, the summer issue of Disney twenty-three features a 10-page story on the creation of the biggest superhero film ever produced. Author and Disney Imagineer Jason Surrell spoke with the film’s acclaimed writer-director Joss Whedon, as well as stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hiddleston and Clark Gregg, and producer Kevin Feige to get the behind-the-scenes details on the explosive film, from the complexities of bringing many of the world’s most famous heroes together to nights out dancing in downtown Albuquerque.
Each of the magazine’s three front and back covers feature different characters:
- Iron Man and Nick Fury on front; Hulk and Captain America on back
- Thor and Black Widow on front; Iron Man and Hawkeye on back
- Captain America on front; Hulk and Hawkeye on back
