Marvel to Debut Avengers Prelude Comics for Free
Beginning this Sunday, a prelude comic to the highly-anticipated “The Avengers” film will be released for free on Marvel’s comic app. There will be eight issues in Marvel’s The Avengers Prelude: Fury’s Big Week series. Subsequent issues will be released weekly beginning Tuesday, February 14, for $0.99 each.

Subsequent issues of Marvel’s The Avengers Prelude: Fury’s Big Week will arrive every Tuesday beginning February 14th for 99 cents per issue.

Stan Lee Narrates Two New Marvel Origin Storybook Apps
Disney Publishing Worldwide recently announced that two more storybook app titles based on the original Marvel Origins series will join “The Amazing Spider-Man: An Origin Story” app, which launched last month. The new titles, both narrated by comic book legend Stan Lee, include “Avengers Origins: Hulk” and “Avengers Origins: Assemble!” which will be available for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch in February 2012.
The “Avengers Origins: Hulk” action-packed app tells the story of how Dr. Bruce Banner becomes the Hulk and the pursuit of the U.S. armed forces against Banner/Hulk. Through thrilling tap-and-play animation and interactive games, readers are able to experience Banner’s transformation first-hand. The “Avengers Origins: Assemble!” app brings to life the team of Super Heroes we’ve all come to know and love with Iron Man, Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, and Captain America. In both apps, Lee lends his iconic voice in “Read to Me” mode, which is one of four reading modes that cater to a variety of reading levels. The two new interactive storybook apps narrated by comic book legend Stan Lee join “The Amazing Spider-Man: An Origin Story” app, which was rated one of the “10 Favorite Apps of 2011” by Entertainment Weekly.
“Avengers Origins: Hulk” and “Avengers Origins: Assemble!” will launch in February 2012 in the App Store on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore.

Disney XD to Begin Hosting New Marvel Universe Animated Block
Great news! Disney XD and Marvel have announced today that beginning April 1, 2012, Disney XD will begin hosting a new Marvel Universe block. The center piece of the channels newest block of programming will be the newest Marvel animated series, ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’. I saw some footage from this at D23 last year, and it looks great. It’s definitely going to be a lot of fun, and I can’t wait for it to start. The new block will also see the return of ‘Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’, as well as have new animated and live action shorts. This will be a great way for new and old fans a like to get a dose of some of their favorite Marvel characters. I can’t wait to see what new shows come from this. Marvel Releasing New Prose Novels Beginning With ‘Civil War’
Marvel has announced a new line of prose novels of some of their most popular comic book series, starting with the company’s biggest event of the last decade, ‘Civil War’. The events of the series forever changed the Marvel universe, splitting it in half and pitting hero against hero, leading to one hero revealing his secret identity to the world, and the shocking death of another. This is my all time favorite comic miniseries, so I’m excited to see what Marvel will do with this new adaption.
