Taste of Spain from Barcelona, Spain at Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival

The Taste of Spain included Serrano Ham, Chorizo, Manchego cheese, Green Olives and Tomato Bread. I hate to say this, but this was my least favorite of all of the items that I tried. The ham and Chorizo (a type of sausage) was very fatty and chewy.

However, the Chorizo did have a deep flavor and a nice kick from the paprika. The olives were nothing more than what you can purchase at any grocery store. The Manchego cheese was the best part, but I really like that style of cheese.

It has an intense taste with notes of nuttiness and butter. It’s perfect to pair with red wine, which is what I did. I ordered the Marques de Caceres Rioja Crianza Red which paired nicely with the strong, bold flavors of the meats and cheese.

Heirloom Tomatoes with Oregon Blue Cheese and Red Onions from United States Marketplace at Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival

Normally I skip the United States marketplace when traveling around the World Showcase in search of new items to try. However, every time I walked pasted the United States marketplace it was like the tomatoes were calling my name. Something about them… maybe that they were Heirloom Tomatoes just made me want to try them. This item was really nice. It was light, refreshing and perfect since it was too hot outside to eat soup (I was really wanting to hit the Montreal, Canada marketplace). The tomatoes each had a different flavor. Some were sweet, some a little more on the sour side and one with just a slight bite. The onions and blue cheese brought out the flavor of the tomatoes. I would definitely recommend trying this dish if you like tomatoes. It’s unique with the different flavors of Heirlooms.

TIP: Don’t eat all of the red onions (unless you really like onion) there was just a few too many for my taste and could have overpowered the other flavors.
