‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ is Coming to Blu-ray and DVD September 25, 2012
With ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ still dominating the box office in it’s third consecutive weekend, and showing no signs of slowing down, Disney and Marvel have announced a release date for the superhero epic to hit home video of September 25, 2012. There will be three different releases, including a 4 disc 3D combo back, 2 Disc blu-ray combo pack, and a 2 disc DVD combo pack. Featuring a great selection of special features including deleted scenes, an alternate opening and ending, a new Marvel One Shot short film, and an audio commentary with Joss Whedon, these are just the tip of the iceberg of what will be a very exciting set to pick up. ‘The Avengers’ is my favorite film of the year, so I definitely can’t wait to pick this one up. There is also a rumor that we’ll be seeing a ten disc Marvel box set that will encompass the entire first phase of the Marvel cinematic universe.

Marvel Begins Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe
After the breakout success of Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ this weekend, Bob Iger has announced the beginning of phase 2 of Marvel’s film development. We’ve known for some time that some of our favorite heroes were on the way to getting sequels, including ‘Iron Man 3′ being directed by Shane Black, ‘Thor 2′ being directed by directed by Alan Taylor, and ‘Captain America 2′, which doesn’t have a director yet. On top of that, there is still ‘Ant-Man’, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, ‘The Runaways’, and ‘The Inhumans’ in the work. But the most exciting thing is Iger is already looking to gear up a potential sequel to ‘The Avengers!’
Iger had this to say regarding the future of the Marvel films:
“The Avengers isn’t just a film. It’s a franchise from our perspective. Obviously, it was helped a lot by the success of the ‘Iron Man’ movies and of ‘Thor’ and ‘Captain America’. From ‘The Avengers’ we get a chance to make ‘Thor 2′ and ‘Captain America 2′ and ‘Iron Man 3′ and hopefully another ‘Avengers’ movie. So this one film that is immensely successful… is going to get a number of other films and franchises.”
He then went on to say:
“We have an ability to leverage what was a very fun film done by a great group of filmmakers into something much bigger for the company, and the effect will be prolonged and that’s very, very exciting for us.”

Marvel Comics and Benefit Cosmetics have joined together to bring the world a new female comic book hero, SpyGal. SpyGal’s persona is based off the POREfessional product from Benefit Cosmetics, which features a vintage female hero with a pore-zapping ray gun.
I’m excited to see these comics. I’ve been looking for new comics to read, and having one featuring a respectable female figure is really catching my attention (not all female superheroes need skimpy outfits!). I plan on getting my hands on these as soon as I can.
