Review: “The Horse Whisperer” Majestic on Blu-ray

Review: The Horse Whisperer Majestic on Blu ray

What’s “The Horse Whisperer” all about?

Here’s the Reader’s Digest version. After a devastating riding accident, a young girl and her beloved horse are left with serious physical and emotional scars. When her mother calls on the “Horse Whisperer” to help, she meets a rugged rancher who not only has an extraordinary gift with animals, but also an ability to enrich the lives of people around him.

Does it star anyone I know?

Stars? Oh yeah. Plenty of star power here! Academy Award winner Robert Redford (Best Director, 1980, Ordinary People), Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas (Best Actress, 1996, The English Patient), Sam Neill, and a young Scarlett Johansson star in a landmark motion picture for the entire family. With a cast like this they can’t miss right?

Phenomenon on Blu-Ray Review

Phenomenon on Blu Ray Review

Being a Travolta fan, I was excited to finally see Phenomenon. While I can’t say that I loved the movie, I would definitely rate this as a “buy” and not just a “rent” movie.

If I didn’t love it, then why would I buy it? It’s thought-provoking and interesting, but really the best reason I can give you for buying it is the powerful scenes presented between Travolta and Sedgwick’s characters.

George Malley (Travolta) is from a small town where everyone knows everyone. His entire life takes a turn on his 37th birthday when he sees a bright light which helps him see everything so much clearer than before.

He begins to devour books, several in a day. George can suddenly win at chess, speak multiple languages after only briefly studying them, and predict earthquakes. Yet his friends never treat him differently.

“Phenomenon” coming to Blu-Ray on July 3rd

Phenomenon coming to Blu Ray on July 3rd

Experience the critically-acclaimed film, Phenomenon – available on Blu-ray for the first time, featuring an incredible new digital restoration with enhanced picture and sound. Academy Award nominee John Travolta (Best Actor, 1994, Pulp Fiction) leads a stellar cast, including Kyra Sedgwick, Forest Whitaker, and Robert Duvall, in this uplifting story of an ordinary man transformed by extraordinary events.

On the night of his 37th birthday, George Malley (Travolta) is knocked to the ground by a mysterious, blinding light and develops amazing mental abilities. With his newfound knowledge, George astounds everyone in town, but comes to realize that his wondrous experience has changed him and all those around him forever.

As a fan of  Jon Turteltaub‘s (Director)  National Treasure Films, I’m excited to finally experience this film in 1080p. Highly regarded as Travolta’s return to the big screen, his performance hits the mark for reminding us that somethings in life just can’t be explained.

Bringing Down the House Blu Ray Review

Bringing Down the House Blu Ray Review

Coming May 15th you can bring home the hilarious hijinks of Steve Martin and Queen Latifah in Bringing Down the House. This is the first time that this comedy will be available on blu ray. As I am writing this Amazon has this 1 disc blu ray listed at just $14.99 with free prime or super saver shipping! At this price this laugh out loud comedy is worth every penny.

Bringing Down the House features the hilarious duo of Steve Martin and Queen Latifah and as their unlikely friendship unfolds there are hilarious supporting actors in the mix as well such as Betty White and Eugene Levy!

Besides just featuring the hi-resolution rendition of the film there is also a commentary track with the director and writer. You will also find a behind the scenes featurette which is pretty well put together as well as a Queen Latifah music video. Additionally there is a “Godfather of Hop” featurette, which is very funny (although I don’t want to give away one of the funniest parts of the film this bonus features is definitely worth a watch after you watch the film).

My favorite addition to the many bonus features on this blu ray is the deleted scenes and gag reel. I have always thought this movie was hilarious but there are a couple of deleted scenes that I laughed so hard at I wondered why they had ever landed on the cutting room floor! And I am just a sucker for a gag reel and a fan girl of Steve Martin! When you pick up this blu ray I recommend the gag reel as your first stop! I watched it a few times back to back!

While this may not be your favorite comedy of all time Bringing Down the House really is under rated and I highly recommend checking it out. For the price of the blu ray and the fun bonus features its worth picking up a copy of your own on May 15th!
