The Hannah Montana Forever Final Season DVD is basically a goodbye letter to all of the fans. The box tells the story by saying it is the  “Ultimate fan experience.” The DVD and episodes seem to be a way to ease the fans’ pain about the show coming to an end. It was also a way to try and introduce Miley as separate from Hannah.  I would like to talk about this special 2 disc set in terms of series plot, packages extras, and DVD special features.

The Series Plot:

The series was basically the same as it has always been. I will say if you have never seen the Hannah Montana series this is not the DVD to start with. This was the season for the fans who had been there from the beginning.

There were several plot devices used to help make the final episodes more interesting. One of the main plot devices used in this DVD set were flashbacks. Each episode would flash to an event in Hannah history. It seemed mostly nostalgic and didn’t really help to move the story along.

Another plot device was several celebrity guests. They had a special holiday episode with Sheryl Crow and another episode with Iyaz. But the real celebrities to the Hannah fans would be the former cast members that made final appearances like Mitchel Musso.

What was cool is that there was a special song every episode.  Each song went along with the theme of the episode and was really catchy and fun to listen to.

There are also several story lines running through the final Hannah episodes. My personal favorite was Jackson love story. Even though the likelihood of Jackson dating a super model felt like a stretch the connection between the two characters was funny and felt real.

Another story line was Lily moving into the Stewart house. I am sure they explain why this happened in the previous season. However since I’ve only seen the Hannah Montana Forever season I was lost. Lily living with the Stewarts was good for a laugh and the idea was cute.

The main plot of Hannah Montana Forever was Miley versus Hannah.  Hannah seems to be keeping Miley from doing anything she wants to do. From going back to high school to eventually getting into college Hannah is always in the way. But the final reason Miley gives up Hannah feels a bit forced. In reality it’s not Miley giving up Hannah but it’s the end of Hannah and therefore the series.

The Package Extras:

There were two special extras in the DVD. One was a Booklet and the other was a signed picture of Hannah Montana. Both are cute and a way for the fans to reminisce.  The pictures in the booklet were of key point in the series. Everything from Hannah’s wigs over the years to the timeline of the show are included in this little book.  I will say if you haven’t seen the final season watch it first then look through the booklet. It is full of spoilers.

The Special Features:

The special features left something to be desired. Considering these are supposed to be the last Hannah Montana episodes ever and the cast will never be together again I was expecting a lot more. Items such as cast commentary or cast favorite episodes would have been a nice addition.

The only special features were cast goodbyes, the audition reels and an alternative ending. The cast goodbyes were short. Each actor said a line or two about how great the years were and how everyone felt like a family. It was sweet but it felt lacking.

The cast auditions were a few clips of when the actors first auditioned. They only showed Miley Cyrus, Mitchel Musso, and Emily Osment. Honestly I was expecting to see the whole cast.

The alternative ending was a bit weird. It did a flashback with Miley and her mom and dad and as a kid how she said she would be famous. It was a good choice to go with the ending they did.

So in the end if you are a Hannah fan you should definitely add this to your collection. If you are just starting to wonder about the show it would be better to start at the beginning.

Disney Store is using Oracle Retail Stores Solutions to better serve customers at its 330 stores in seven countries. Disney Store is now equipped to handle high volumes of transactions, helping customers move more quickly through checkout and giving the company a clear and accurate view of item performance in locations worldwide.

Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) partner and systems integration company SkillNet helped to complete the global rollout of Oracle Retail Point of Sale in all 330 stores in November 2010, to coincide with the grand opening of Disney’s highly-acclaimed 20,000-square-foot store in New York’s Times Square. Disney Store has teamed with Oracle Retail and OPN partner InfoGain to implement a mobile point of service solution in more than 40 stores which leverages the flexibility and functional richness of Oracle Retail Point of Service (POS) and enables Disney cast members to complete transactions anywhere in the store.

“We are completing transactions more quickly, capturing sales information electronically and providing our business leaders with accurate information on the performance of our stores,” said Steve Finney, senior vice president of global retail operations, Disney Stores Worldwide. “The new POS system allows us to execute pricing and special offers worldwide or by region, and our cast members are much more efficient while assisting our guests at the register.”

“Our team of partners completed this work with the highest level of collaboration and expertise,” said Vince Beacom, group vice president, Oracle Retail. “We are extremely pleased with the results and are very glad to be part of Disney Store’s success.”

  • During the National Retail Federation Big Show 2011, from January 9 – 11 in New York, Steve Finney, senior vice president of global retail operations for Disney Stores Worldwide, will conduct a Super Session presentation about the company’s global program to create and open its new technology-fueled stores.
  • The company is using Oracle Retail Point of Service, Oracle Retail Central Office and Oracle Retail Back Office to establish a single, flexible system across all of its international locations and enable the business to localize offerings based on customer preferences.

Building on the successful launch of its interactive and immersive stores in 2010, the international specialty retail chain is on target to add more than 25 new and remodeled locations in 2011 ultimately transforming all 350+ locations in countries around the world. Today at the National Retail Federation’s “Big Show” in New York City, Disney Store announced the first 11 North American and 10 European locations and plans to reveal additional locations later this year. With a retail strategy focused on securing locations in premier mall and shopping centers, Disney Store is in prime position to deliver “the best 30 minutes of a child’s day” to the more than 85 million children, families and tourists who visit it each year.

“Guests told us that we brought the magic back to Disney Store with the launch of our new design and responded by staying in the stores longer and purchasing more,” said Jim Fielding, president of Disney Stores Worldwide. “The future of Disney Store is brighter than ever as we expand our reach by opening in new markets, leverage the latest technology to enhance the guest experience and improve efficiency, showcase incredible new Disney content, and bring a magical Disney experience to local communities everywhere.”

In 2011, Disney Store will open newly designed stores in six new North American markets and in three new European countries:

Disney Store Locations: US, Canada & Puerto Rico

  • The first newly designed Disney Store in Georgia will open in Atlanta’s Perimeter Mall
  • Guests in Washington will celebrate the opening of two Disney Store locations in Seattle’s Westfield Southcenter mall and at Bellevue Square
  • Mall of America in Minnesota, the second largest mall in the United States, will open its first ever Disney Store
  • For the first time in 10 years, Puerto Rico will have its very own Disney Store when an experiential new store opens at Plaza Las Americas this summer
  • The first newly designed Disney Store in Canada will open in the remodeled Square One Mall in Mississauga, Ontario and Metropolis in Vancouver, British Columbia will also open an inaugural store.
  • Additionally, Disney Store will open four remodeled stores at Westfield in Culver City, CA; Palisades shopping center in West Nyack, NY; Chandler Fashion Center in Arizona, and Northstar mall in San Antonio, Texas.

  • Three new European countries will unveil a Disney Store for the very first time — Copenhagen, Denmark, which will be the very first Disney Store in Scandinavia, Dublin in the Republic of Ireland and Antwerp in Belgium
  • The new Disney Store location on Oxford Street in London is expected to be a top attraction for both tourists and local guests
  • Bromley and Nottingham in the UK, Lyon in France, and Naples in Italy will be remodeled to the new design
  • Two Spanish locations, Cadiz in the Southwest and Las Arenas on Gran Canaria, one of the Canary Islands, will also be remodeled locations.
