We have just received confirmation from Disney that a new pilot program is rolling out to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The resort will be testing a cashless transaction system from February 12 through March 30, 2018.
What does this mean for guests? During this time the only acceptable forms of payment will be MagicBands, credit cards, debit cards, Disney Gift Cards, Disney Rewards Redemption Cards, and contactless payments such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, or Google Pay.
If guests do prefer to use cash during their stay then a cash deposit can be made at the resort front desk into their reservation balance and then guests can use their MagicBands to complete transactions throughout the resort. Tipping with cash is still accepted.
Disney did not state if this pilot program would be rolled out to any other resorts at this time.
