California Adventure Letters Being Removed Today

Today marks the day where Disney construction workers have begun removing the iconic letters from the entrance area of California Adventure. As seen in the photo above, taken by Kevin Hilgeman, the crew wasted no time and removal equipment arrived around midnight.

As mentioned in earlier posts, the letters may be saved and used in another part of the city.

The letter removal is part of the $1 billion refurbishment and expansion of the park.

Below are some photos of the letters on their final evening.

  1. I think it is a shame the letters are going and do hope they find a place for them somewhere. We happened to be at the park yesterday and the tram operator told us they were going to be removed that night, so we took our last pictures with the letters. I also will miss the California mosaic that used to line the entrance to DCA. So many people passed by and never gave it a second look. I always enjoyed pointing out the many landmarks pictured to my friends. Even those who had been there many times had never paid attention to it. I for one will miss many aspects of the “old” DCA.
