Avoid Vacation Cancellation: P.L.A.N.

“A dream is a wish your heart makes…” but our magical vacation ideals and our budget aren’t always on the same page. So what do you do when you want to dream…but don’t want to have your dreams squished by reality? You P.L.A.N.
Having to cancel your dream vacation is devastating, these simple steps will help you avoid vacation cancellation.

P:Prepare to take a vacation that you can afford. Promotions are great, but unless you book under one you aren’t guaranteed that a promotion will be available for your travel dates. Prepare for the worst and assume you’re going to pay full price. This will insure that even if no promotion is released for your vacation you’re booked under a package price that you can afford.

L: Learn about your vacation. Know the best and worst times to travel, historical promotion dates and ways to save money. “Knowledge is power” and being prepared is the biggest tool to saving money. Knowing ways to maximize your time also maximizes your money and you get more bang for your buck.

A: Acknowledge your trip-Don’t just book your vacation and put it out of your mind. Keep checking for promotions and discounts codes that may lower your package price. I recommend using a travel agent specializing in Disney travel, they’ll monitor your reservation for you.

N: Negotiate the elements of your trip that may be able to be scaled down. There is no telling when a financial problem may arise that could prevent you from taking your dream vacation, before you cancel negotiate the elements of your trip. This could mean changing your deluxe dining plan to the regular dining plan, or deducting a day from your trip, downgrading your resort, etc. Sometimes this solution is much more affordable than canceling altogether. Flight fees, change and cancellation policies, etc can add up and cost you more than its worth!

These are simple steps to help your dream vacation become a reality. If you are a newbie, or feel these steps are more than you can handle, use a travel agent specializing in Disney travel. They’ll do all the work and you can have all the fun!

    @CAStruck, YES! You are correct, travel insurance can really be a life-saver. But don’t forget that travel insurance is not refundable itself…some people forget that! It’s a lot easier to lose $133.90 (if you’re 2 adults in a room @ WDW) than the cost of your vacation!!!

    @Missywashiki-That’s a great idea-conquer it all!

    Travel insurance!! Don’t forget that! Can you imagine not getting any money back if there is a family emergency or something? It’s worth the price for the assurance in my book.

    I do not book any part of my vacation until I have all the money in the bank to pay for it. I book my room, pay for my passes, book my flight, and make my meal rezzies all at the same time.
