Mickey Mouse 2-D Shorts are Coming Back!

Have you been missing seeing the Mickey Mouse cartoons on TV? Good news! They are coming back to the small screen. As Disney tries to bring back Mickey Mouse’s popularity to it’s hey day they will be showing 19 different 2-D cartoons on the Disney channel as well as on disney.com and the Watch Disney app.

Starting on June 28th, you will once again enjoy Mickey and a few of his famous friends (I am hearing rumors that in addition to his true-love Minnie, that Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto all have plans to appear with their buddy Mickey).

The plan is for the shorts to bring you back to the days of founder Walt Disney, highlighting Mickey’s playful qualities.

“Over time we thought that maybe Mickey lost some of those impish or innocent qualities, that vitality that people once saw in him. So we decided to bring him back,” Bob Iger, Walt Disney Co.s CEO said.

Boy Passes Away from Drowning at Pop Century

Sad news to report today out of Walt Disney World Resort where according to the Orlando Sentinel a 13-year old boy, Anthony Johnson, has passed away from drowning. Last Sunday, the child was pulled out of the pool at Pop Century Resort at the Hippy Dippy pool around 9:30pm and was taken to an Orlando area hospital where he passed away today. He was swimming with his family when they lost sight of him and after a few minutes a cousin spotted him at the bottom of the pool.

The boy’s father performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived and took over. The family was visiting Disney on vacation from Fordland, MO.

Lifeguards were at the pool from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and signs are posted that guests swim at their own risk after hours, Disney spokeswoman Marilyn Waters said.

“We are saddened by Anthony Johnson’s passing and our hearts go out to his family, friends and loved ones. We have reached out to his family to offer care and assistance during this difficult time,” the company said in a statement.

More Fake Tickets to Disneyland Found on Craigslist

According to the LA Times, Alisa Yenokyan, 22, resident of Hollywood, CA, was arrested on suspicion of selling fake tickets to Disneyland via Craigslist. She was arrested last Wednesday, after meeting with undercover officers who were posing as potential Disneyland ticket buyers. The undercover officers had responded previously to one of her Craigslist ads inquiring about purchasing two adult and two kids tickets for well below retail value at $50 per ticket.

Yenokyan was accused of selling fake tickets to at least 6 different families. Most of these families did not even learn of the ticket scam until they were turned away at the gates to the park.

Who Would Not Want a Disney World Personal Shopper?

I recently was made aware of a service that has offered up the World to my front door…Walt Disney World of course. What is this amazing service you ask? It is the Personal Disney Shopper. I was so excited to think I could have someone go to any of the parks or resorts and buy me all the items my heart misses when I am not there. Do I want the newest released merchandise from Haunted Mansion? No problem! Trading Pins from anywhere? No problem!

Next step…what would I order??? Well, Valentine’s Day was the very next week and I was going to be out of town. Not that this posed any big problems for my husband but I thought how can I be gone but still make it sort of special? Well I did or I had some help as Disney World Personal Shopper made it happen. I had a sweet Valentine’s Day pin and 2 red chocolate covered heart cookies specially made and wrapped up from somewhere at Disney sent to my house.

I knew I wanted to try one of these shoppers and from what I can gather there are definitely a few. I perused a few websites and found the one that appealed to me. I then looked through her pictures and saw the pin and thought that is cute and then I saw the crème de resistance and that was the special holiday cookies. So, I checked out the rules and sent a few emails and maybe a text when questions came up – such as they only have red chocolate or white chocolate and not dark chocolate for the cookies (thanks for asking and not deciding!) I got confirmation my package had shipped on a Saturday and it arrived on Monday.

Mickey and the Magical Map Live Show Opens in 2013

“Mickey and the Magical Map” presents Mickey Mouse in his timeless role as the sorcerer’s apprentice. Sorcerer Yen Sid sets his Mapmakers to work and this ensemble cast of male and female performers paints a wondrous map – capable of taking dreamers to any place imaginable and so large it spans the entire stage of Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland.

Apprentice Mickey lets his curiosity get the better of him and stumbles upon the map’s magical powers. Mickey’s youthful mischief takes him, along with the audience, on a fantastic journey of imagination in the company of the Mapmakers, who help bring his adventures to life.
