Disney’s Prince of Persia w/ video

Disneys Prince of Persia w/ video

Yesterday, Disney released the first, official posters for ‘Prince of Persia’, and, today, they have this first look at Ben Kingsley’s villainous Nizam. It’s looking like the marketing on ‘Prince of Persia’ is gearing up, and the chances of a trailer by the end of the week is looking more and more likely. Look for it to air in front of Jerry Bruckheimer’s other Disney collaboration, ‘G-Force,’ opening in theaters this Friday.

Jake Gyllenhaal plays a 6th century prince who holds the fate of the world in his hands in the sweeping fantasy-adventure ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

“I over-prepared myself because I never knew how much they were going to ask me to do, so I just made sure I’d be hopefully able to do anything,” a playful Jake tells Thea.

The former ‘Brokeback Mountain’ star trained for months before the arduous Moroccan desert shoot, and has been training daily to maintain his action-hero physique, gaining five pounds of muscle.

“I guess I’ve gotten buff,” he shrugs. “There’s a lot acrobatics in the movie — a lot of running up walls, and jumping on things and Parkour, so it requires muscularity, but it requires a lot of aerobic ability too.”

When filming finally wraps, Jake promises with a smile, “It’s going to turn into fat and I’m going to be happy.”

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ blockbuster producer Jerry Bruckheimer is bringing ‘Prince of Persia’ to life, based on the hugely popular video game and scheduled to open in theaters on May 28, 2010. The story finds Jake as Dastan, a young Persian prince who must join forces with the beautiful and feisty princess Tamina (played by ‘Quantum of Solace’ Bond girl Gemma Arterton) to prevent a villainous nobleman (Ben Kingsley) from possessing the Sands of Time — a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

“I’m running away from family and I’m running away from bad guys and I’m trying to prove my innocence,” says Jake, trying to keep the play-by-play plot details a secret. “There’s so many extraordinary elements throughout the movie.”

Disney Rapunzel Movie

Disney Rapunzel Movie
Directed by Byron Howard & Nathan Greno (the co-director and head of story on Bolt respectively) , this new telling of the classic fairy tale, will transport audiences “to a stunning CG fantasy world complete with the iconic tower, an evil witch, a gallant hero and, of course, the mysterious girl with the long golden tresses. Expect adventure, heart, humor, and hair, lots of hair.”

Previous director Glen Keane developed a new look for this computer animated film, which is said to look and feel more like a traditional hand-drawn Disney Classic, but in 3D. Apparently the film uses a non-photorealistic rendering technique which will make the surface look like it is painted but still containing depth and dimensions. The movie’s visual style is being based on French Rococo artist Jean-Honore Fragonard’s painting “The Swing”. You can definitely see the look they’re going for in the image above.

There are a couple more very small concept drawings over on the Animations message board, but you really can’t see much of anything. A short clip of test footage was shown at Siggraph 2005, where is gained a lot of attention. Earlier concept images had been previously posted online from when the project was titled Rapunzel Unbraided. But the project has since been completely revamped. See more concept art here.

The voice cast is rumored to include David Schwimmer, Matthew Gary Gubler, Kristin Chenoweth, Dan Fogler, and Grey DeLisle. Rapunzel is scheduled to hit theaters in Christmas 2010.
