Le Cellier – Something Besides A Steak?!

On my last trip to Walt Disney World my family decided they wanted to eat at Le Cellier for lunch. Currently, Le Cellier is 1 table service for lunch but in January even the lunch menu will be bumped up to 2 Dining Credits. So this would be one of the last times we would eat there. I am not a known fan of Le Cellier for two reasons: 1. last time I ate there I was very very sick and honestly miserable and 2. I am not a huge steak fan. So can a person really eat there and not order a steak and still have a nice meal? Well the answer is Yes, you can!! The lunch menu has several options, it looks pretty much like the dinner menu only not as many fish selections I noticed. They also offer the Chefs pick menu and even on the dining plan you can enjoy an appetizer, entree and dessert. I opted to go with that menu.

For the started I had the Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage with roasted corn polenta and sweet onion jam. Wow! It was amazing and big enough it really could have been a meal of its own. The chicken sausage is so good, but beware that it is spicy but not so hot it’ll burn your mouth. The roasted corn polenta was so creamy with just enough sweetness from the corn to balance out the flavors from the spicy sausage. I’m telling ya, skip the soup next time and give this a try! Yum!

For my entree I picked the Le Cellier House Burger. I know what you are thinking, what no steak?! But if you are not a steak lover, why choose one just because you are at a steak house. It is not a rule. The burger was topped with roasted mushrooms, smokey bacon, maple barbecue, cheddar cheese, crispy onions, and served with a side of french fries. They will cook your burger to order and I ordered mine well done and it was perfect. The burger is huge, I could barely put down half of it after the appetizer. I offered up samples to other people at my table and everyone enjoyed it. The burger is a winner in my book!

How to do Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on a Budget

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Walt Disney World is one of the funnest extra’s you can do if you have a little girl! The salon is normally noisy and crowded but each “Fairy Godmother” treat the girls as if they are the only ones there! It is a must do for us each time we visit Walt Disney World. In order to make that happen, I have had to come up with ways to do the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on a Budget!

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique offers three different packages to choose from.

Coach Package includes hairstyling and shimmering makeup—starting at $49.95 USD plus tax.
Crown Package includes hairstyling, shimmering makeup and nails—starting at $54.95 USD plus tax
Castle Package includes the Crown Package plus the Imaging Package (one 6″ x 8″ and four 4″ x 6″ photos in a princess-themed photo holder) and complete costume of your choice with accessories—starting at $189.95 USD plus tax.

We ALWAYS choose the crown package! Not only do you get the hair, makeup and nail – there is a photopass photographer going around taking your daughters picture constantly! So if you have already ordered the photopass cd, like we do, there is no need to have extra prints of these when you have already paid for them on the photopass cd.

On top of choosing the Crown Package for our daughter, we always bring a princess dress from home! We normally make a trip to our local Disney Store before our vacation and pick up a dress of her choosing. This runs us normally less than $40.00 depending on which dress she chooses and if we get accessories. That is a lot cheaper than the dresses at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! And guess what… they treat you no different if you bring your dress from home! Just tell the ladies up front and they will arrange for you to go into the fitting room and put it on just like the girls who bought the more expensive package! It really is great, Disney does a great job of accommodating people with all types of budgets! You certainly don’t have to bring a princess dress at all. One year my daughter just wore a special outfit we picked out for her instead! Etsy is a great place to look for custom outfits and they are reasonably priced! No matter what you choose for your child to wear, your Fairy Godmother will make a fuss over her!

Packing a cooler for Walt Disney World

Planning a Disney vacation can be expensive, but Disney does a great job of allowing families of all sizes and budgets to have a great vacation! There are all sorts of ways to cut down costs at the Parks, but maybe the most beneficial to your wallet is having the ability to pack your own cooler!

That’s right, Walt Disney World actually allows you to bring a cooler into the Parks, which is something not all theme parks allow you to do. This is a HUGE money saver, especially when a coke will run you close to $3.00.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when packing your cooler for Walt Disney World:

Your cooler must be soft sided and smaller than 24″ X 15″ X 18″ which happens to be the size of a locker at Walt Disney World.
No alcoholic beverages are permitted into the Parks at any time!
No glass containers are allowed inside the Parks, with the exception of baby food jars.
Coolers with wheels are not permitted into the Parks.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom does not allow anyone to bring in coolers of any kind, except for medical purposes, for the safety of the animals. Animal Kingdom also does not allow juice boxes or drinks with lids into the park for the same reason.
Upon entering the Parks, you must get your cooler inspected at the bag check locations.

Tastes So Good – Mac & Cheese Truffle Oil Hot Dog from Fairfax Fare

Warning: If you are on a diet please just look away. I am not joking, what I am about to show you will tempt even the most strong willed people. It really will.

On my latest trip to Walt Disney World I set out to try several food items I had not yet crossed off my Disney Dining Bucket List.My most anticipated item to cross of the list was the Mac & Cheese and Truffle Oil Hot Dog from Fairfax Fare at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I am not too proud to admit I love a good hot dog and I love mac and cheese, so combining the two seemed like a match made in heaven. The Mac & Cheese and Truffle Oil Hot Dog will cost you $8.59 or on the Disney Dining Plan 1 counter service credit. If you choose to use a counter service credit, you will also get a large beverage, chips and a dessert (go with the carrot cake!).

When your order is ready for pickup at the counter I think you will be pleased with what you see. The Mac & Cheese and Truffle Oil Hot Dog is also served with bacon on top! Wow – What a combination! Before you dig in make sure to get plenty of napkins and a fork to catch all of the goodies that are about to fall off. Roll your sleeves up and take a big bite!

The flavor combo here really works! The truffle oil you can certainly taste but it is not overpowering. The bacon adds a nice crisp to each bite and the mac and cheese is super creamy. This hot dog is out of this world! Give it a try, you will be happy you did!
