Even if you don’t like the recent changes to the Spaceship Earth attraction, you have to admit it is so cool to actually ride inside that huge geodesic sphere all the way to the top and back again. I’ll go on the record and say (don’t be haters please) that I love the changes that were made during the refurb. I’m a huge Dame Judi Dench fan and her narration actually enhances a feeling of comfort and familiarity as the ride progresses. The new scenes and the enhancement of the older ones has really taken what was always a good attraction and made it into a great attraction, at least for me.
The touch screen technology in the “time machine” ride vehicles is fun, don’t pass up using it at the end of the ride it’s a real kick!! The post ride area by Siemens called “Project Tomorrow” Has a lot of fantastic stuff for all of you techies both young and old. Make sure to spend a little time there especially if you have kids with you.
I’m not a Disney purist in the extreme sense and I welcome most upgrades and changes but this was one of the best for me. You may have heard me whine when they took the wand down because I really liked that, as a matter of fact I get a little misty when I come across one of my older pictures with the wand on the dome (only kidding but I did really like it). Even if you have heard negatives or have not ridden Spaceship Earth for a few years, give it another chance because I think you will like it. As always, enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World!!
