dragon Disneyland’s 45 foot tall dragon removed from Fantasmic after weekend incident

This interesting news comes to us from LA Times.

From the start, this dragon seemed to be missing a spark or two.

When Disneyland’s updated version of Fantasmic debuted in June of last year, it had to do so minus Maleficent, the mighty fire-breather from “Sleeping Beauty” that was supposed to be the star of the show.

At the time, rumors flew over what had felled Maleficent, with some observers reporting that the dragon’s head had fallen off during rehearsal. But Disney officials refused to confirm anything more than mechanical trouble.

The 45-foot-tall, 18,000-pound dragon finally debuted in September. But on Monday, the image-conscious officials representing the Happiest Place on Earth confirmed that the dragon was out again, this time indefinitely, after some kind of “technical” problem during Saturday’s show. “

Disney Interactive Studios today announced the release of Camp Rock: The Final Jam for Nintendo DS™. While navigating through story events from the upcoming Disney Channel original movie and jamming to music from both “Camp Rock movies, the new game takes players on a fun-filled adventure that adds a new level of interactivity to the franchise. In the DS game, players create their own customized avatar and join Mitchie, Shane and other characters as they prepare to go up against the rival Camp Star.

“Camp Rock: The Final Jam provides DS players a new way to enjoy the fun of summer,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “With a great story line and exciting camp rock activities, this game is a perfect addition to the ‘Camp Rock’ experience.”

Camp Rock: The Final Jam takes players on a puzzle and mini-game filled journey through story events based on the movie. Fans will immerse themselves in summer fun as they explore familiar locations and experience camp activities from the movie including a water balloon fight and canoe racing.  To prepare for competition, fans rock out to “Camp Rock” songs using their stylus to play drums, bass or rhythm guitar.  Players will also use the stylus to tear up the dance floor with cool moves.  In addition players will be able to express their style as they customize their avatar with cool clothing and accessories to wear around camp.

Camp Rock: The Final Jam is now available for the Nintendo DS and is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.
